The Hypocrisy of Natalie Portman at The Golden Globes

Last night Natalie Portman slammed the Golden Globes for not being inclusive enough to women, which perfectly showed how hypocritical Hollywood can be when people online revealed that Portman supported to free a former Hollywood director who raped a young girl.

At the end of the Golden Globes Ceremony, Portman stepped on stage with Ron Howard to present the award for Best Director. She couldn’t help but chime in on the male bashing event, complaining that the directors are all men.

The media praised Portman’s comment against the all-male nominations, The A.V. Club wrote, “Portman decided to use her brief time on a stage to make an important statement about the industry she’s worked in her entire life.”

The Huffington Post said people should “bless” Portman for bravely highlighting how all the nominations are men. In the article, they also express their love for Portman’s dig at men, writing, “oh, how we love you.”

And the headline for USA Today read, “Natalie Portman savages the Golden Globes' 'all-male nominees' for best director”

But It's ironic seeing Portman try to stand up for women after she signed a petition in 2009 to free Roman Polanski, who was charged with drugging and raping a 13-year-old girl.

Polanski is a former Hollywood director, who has been a fugitive from the U.S. justice system after he pled guilty to the charge of statutory rape. After serving 42 years in prison, he was placed on probation due to a plea bargain. Polanski learned that the judge had changed his mind, so he quickly fled the country.
